Welcome to The Center's home page!         Established in September,1984 and reorganized in June,1999, Center for Studies of Sociological Theory & Method of Renmin University, has been put in the list of Key Research Bases for Humanistic and Social Studies at General Institutions of Higher Learning subordinate to Ministry of Education, with Professor Zheng Hangsheng as the director. ¡¡ For years, researchers of the Center have been actively engaged in the exploration of establishing sociological theories with Chinese characteristics and have painstakingly promoted the application of sociology to the contemporary reform of China. They have preliminarily put forward theories of ¡°social operation¡± and ¡°social transformation¡± that are considerably influential both at home and abroad. Meanwhile, they have also fruitfully studied the theory and practice involving the indigenization of sociology. ¡¡ The Center is now to launch out into researches on forward theoretical issues of sociology and the stratification of Chinese society. With the support of Ministry of Education, the university and fraternal units, we are confident in building the Center into a pivot for academic studies and information exchanges in the field of sociological theory and method, as well as a base for the training of advanced talents in sociology.
